Nashville, Tenn. (October 11, 2012) - As Newsboys quickly approach the unveiling of their first release under their new partnership with Sparrow Records, the band has been nominated for an American Music Award in the Favorite Artist, Contemporary/Inspirational, category. This marks the first American Music Award nomination for Newsboys.
"The AMA's have always been my favorite awards show simply because the fans vote," remarks lead singer Michael Tait. "That's why I am beside myself with joy and feeling humbled and definitely blessed by the Master of creation!"
The 40th Anniversary American Music Awards will broadcast live from the NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE on November 18th at 8/7c on ABC.
In addition, the band continues to excite audiences nationwide on their "God's Not Dead" Tour. Having already visited 60 markets in the spring, the tour is visiting 36 new cities this fall and has been performing for near-capacity crowds. Building 429 (Provident Music Group) and fellow label-mate Luminate (Sparrow Records) are also on the road with the band as support. The remaining tour dates for the fall are listed below.
The band is receiving early rave reviews for their upcoming project, God's Not Dead: Live In Concert, which is set for release on October 22. Recorded live in front of tens of thousands at 2012's Sonshine festival in Willmar, Minn., and LifeFest in Osh Kosh, Wis., the album primarily features songs from their hit studio albums God's Not Dead (2012) and Born Again (2010), and premieres the first new recordings of lead vocalist Michael Tait singing past Newsboys hits "He Reigns" and "Something Beautiful." The album is available for pre-order on iTunes here: Smarturl.it/godsnotdeadlive
In addition to the new partnership with Sparrow Records, the Newsboys have also recently teamed up with Big Idea Entertainment's first-ever super hero themed DVD, VeggieTales®: The League of Incredible Vegetables. The title helps teach a lifelong lesson in handling fear, one of the most requested subject topics by VeggieTales fans and families. The Newsboys created a brand-new League theme song and music video for the movie, which is set to release on October 13 and October 16, 2012 in Christian and general market stores respectively.

This GRAMMY®-nominated and Dove Award-winning band has sold close to 8 million units, has garnered five Gold albums and 25 No. 1 radio hits. Their 2010 release, Born Again, saw the largest street week of their careers, selling astounding 45,311 units and hitting No. 4 on Billboard's overall chart, positioned above new releases from such artists as Justin Bieber, Sting and M.I.A. Its self-titled single topped the radio charts for 8 weeks, gaining close to eight million impressions to date. The record also garnered three No. 1 hits.
Newsboys released their most recent CD on November 15, 2011 - the highly anticipated project, God's Not Dead. This rock-driven worship album finds front man Michael Tait and his band mates who've played together for two decades - Jeff Frankenstein (keys), Duncan Phillips (drums) and Jody Davis (guitar) - with some of today's most widely church-embraced modern worship anthems as well as several original and never-before-released worship songs written by some of today's biggest worship songwriters. It's title song, "God's Not Dead," topped the CHR radio format for seven weeks in a row.
Renown for their heart-pumping live concerts, the tight knit Newsboys unit continues to headline shows in the U.S. and around the world. 2011 saw them headline the world's biggest tour, the Winter Jam Tour, playing to more than half a million people.
